Datuk Dr Wan Sabri Wan Yusof has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS) effective April 5 until December 2024.
USAS in a statement said Wan Sabri, 58, takes over from Tan Sri Dr Nordin Kardi whose term of service ended on April 4.
According to the statement, the appointment was approved by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah who is USAS chancellor.
The letter of appointment was presented by USAS board chairman Tan Sri Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali in a brief ceremony held at the university auditorium this morning.
Wan Sabri who holds a Doctorate of Philosophy from Temple University, United States in Comparative Religion, is an academician and a respected figure in the Islamic banking field. He is also a syariah advisor to several banks in the country.
He was appointed as USAS deputy vice-chancellor (Academic and Student Affairs) since 2012.
