PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR, NATIONAL ASSEMBLY PRESIDENT ACKNOWLEDGE CLOSE COOPERATION, FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN PHILIPPINE, CAMBODIAN PARLIAMENTARIANS

PHNOM PENH 05 April 2021 – During a courtesy call on 31 March 2021, Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia Maria Amelita C. Aquino and Cambodia National Assembly President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin acknowledged the close cooperation and friendship between the Philippine and Cambodian parliamentarians.

They also noted the warm and close bilateral relations between the two countries in various sectors, including trade and investment, tourism, education and labor and they look forward to the commemoration of the  65th anniversary of Philippine-Cambodia diplomatic relations in 2022.

Ambassador Aquino expressed support for the Cambodian government’s hosting of Asia-Europe Meeting later this year and ASEAN Chairmanship in 2022, which include meetings between parliamentarians. She also conveyed appreciation for the Cambodian Government’s generous offer to vaccinate the diplomatic corps and foreign nationals residing in Cambodia. The vaccination of the diplomatic corps in Cambodia took place on 23 to 26 March 2021.

National Assembly President Heng Samrin, on the other hand, expressed his support for Ambassador Aquino as she undertakes her mission in promoting cooperation between the two countries and further enhancing bilateral relations in various fields. END
